Niamh is a recent graduate from Boise State University and a McNair Scholar alumna. As an undergraduate, her academic work explored neoliberalism in higher education, with a particular focus on how meritocracy intersects with and reinforces systemic sexism within that structure. Through this lens, she examined the ways educational institutions both reflect and perpetuate gendered societal inequities As she begins her journey at Washington University in St. Louis, Niamh is eager to expand her scholarly focus. She is particularly drawn to issues related to gendered health disparities and the restrictions surrounding reproductive rights in the United States. These interests reflect her broader commitment to pursuing true social equity through conducting research that has a real impact on people's lives. Outside of her academic interests and desire to explore this new city, she enjoys reading, playing cozy video games, and drawing. Having recently relocated from Boise, ldaho, Niamh is looking forward to experiencing St. Louis' culture, and integrating into the community.
