Anne Brown’s research focuses on urban neighborhoods, community development, and the inequities of race, class, and place in the United States.
Anne Brown is currently engaged in projects spanning four urban processes: 1) neighborhood organizations, 2) eviction and segregation, 3) Citizen Councils, and 4) vacancy and market influences. Anne employs a mixed-methods approach using causal inference, geospatial analysis, and qualitative observations and interviews. While her work centers on her home and favorite city of St. Louis, she also engages in comparative research in similar cities such as Philadelphia.
She proudly completed her B.S. from the University of Missouri - St. Louis and received her M.S. from Saint Louis University. Anne is a 2025 Washington University in St. Louis Divided City Fellow, through which she examined the neighborhood dynamics shaping community development in St. Louis, Missouri.
