Biographical Summary
Join us for a fireside chat where Professor Andrew Reeves, Director of the Weidenbaum Center, will talk to Professor Steven Fazzari (pictured left), Bert A. and Jeanette L. Lynch Distinguished Professor of Economics and Professor of Sociology, to chat about his research and careeer at Washington University.
Professor Fazzari is an economist in his 42d year on the Washington University faculty. He is a resaerch fellow of the Weidenbaum Center where he served as associated director from 2008 to 2020 and director from 2020 to 2022. He has taught macroeconomic courses for thousands of undergraduates and advised a distinguished group of PhD students. A highlight of Professor Fazzari's many university leadership roles was his term as the inagural chair of the revived Department of Sociology, where he recruited the first ten faculty members, and worked with his new colleagues to create both undergraduate and graduate programs.
His widely published research on business investment, sources of economics growth, and the macroeconomic effects of rising inequality has receved over 20,000 citations.
