Jones is a professor of English at St. Louis Community College, where he teaches English composition and literature. His doctoral research and ongoing interests are in African-Ameican male slave narratives and modern-day prison narratives. He specifically examines the intersections of identity, masculinity and spirituality and how the institution of slavery closely mirrors mass incarceration.
